This Indenture made the day of June One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twelve Between Sir Francis Taylor Piggott of Victoria
in the Colony of Hongkong, Knight, of the one part and His Excel-
-lency Claud Severn the Officer Administering the Government and
Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong (hereinafter called
the Governor) for and on behalf of the Government of the said
Colony of the other part Whereas in or about the month of December,
1910, the said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott undertook the work of
editing and revising the whole of the Laws and Ordinances of the
Colony of Hongkong and the preparation of a newly revised edition
of the same and the said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott claims to have certain claims rights and interest in the said newly revised edition and in certain supplementary volumes containing Ordi- -nances and indices revised and prepared by him him and Whereas
the said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott has incurred the liabilities
set for in the schedule hereto in respect of the revision of the said Ordinances and Whereas the Governor alleges and claims that
there are certain mistakes and errors in such revision which should
be corrected and made good by the said Sir Francia Taylor Piggott and that the Governor has suffered damage by reason of the same
and Whereas the Governor has requested the said Sir Francis
Taylor Piggott in consideration of the Governor paying to the
said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott the sum of money hereinafter mentioned and also of the Governor taking over all the liabilities of the said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott ate forth in the said schedule hereto and also of the Governor releasing the said Sir
Francis Taylor Piggott from all sums of money (if any) actions
proceedings claims and demands whatsoever by the Governor for or
by reason or in respect of the revision of the said Ordinances or
in respect of any mistakes or errors in such revision, to assign
to the said Governor all the rights claims and interest of the
of said Sir Francis Taylor Piggott of whatsoever nature and in the
said hereby revised edition and supplementary volumes free from
incumbrances except in so far as the liabilities incurred set
